Why You Should Not Date In High School

Many parents discourage this practice as they don’t want their kids to grow up too fast. Here are the reasons why you should not date in high school.

Having unrealistic expectations: Some teens think that their relationships will be like a rom-com or a fairytale. They think that it is going to be perfect with no problems, but every relationship has its ups and downs. Sometimes these expectations can lead to rude awakenings and negatively affect the mental health of those involved.

Dangers of peer pressure: Teens are more susceptible to peer pressure to make risky decisions than any other age group. Teens can make thoughtless decisions since they are still growing up. In some cases, the person they are with could turn out to be immature and not have a good influence on them.

Dating can distract from school work:

My humble advice is to use your time as a single person to make your own decisions, explore your interests, and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. Spend time with your friends. Just have fun. Enjoy uncomplicated relationships that don’t involve dating.
